Remembering 125 years of God's Grace Among Us

On Sunday, October 11 our congregation held two worship services to remember the birthday of our becoming an organized congregation on October 11, 1934.  At 9 am a service of celebration was held with 252 people in attendance. The Rev. Dr. Lane Seitz, president of the Minnesota South District of our Synod was the guest preacher.  He thanked God with us for all the blessings of the past years.  Then he challenged us for the future to reach out to the many unchurched in our community.  There are still many souls to be brought into the kingdom of God.  Pastor Paul Sajban and Pastor Ernie Swenson served as the liturgists.

An anniversary choir made up of past and present members of the Senior choir sang several anthems, as well as hymn verses.  Linda Staples was the organist, Page Kern played the trumpet and Ruth Wohlfeil directed the 27 members of the choir.  The members included:

After the morning service a power point presentation was given by Pastor Sajban, with additional commentary from several members.  At noon a catered meal was served to 203 people.  At 1:30 pm a memorial service was held with the Rev. Arnold Walta, one of our former pastors, now living in retirement in Washington, preaching the sermon. The anniversary choir sang, with Ruth Wohlfeil directing the choir and serving as organist.

To conclude the day, cake and ice cream was served in the fellowship hall.
